There are specialist Commercial Prosecutions Branches in each of the larger Regional Offices of the CDPP. Those branches prosecute breaches of the Corporations Act 2001 and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission Act 2001. In addition, the CDPP’s Commercial Prosecutions Branches are responsible for conducting large fraud prosecutions where there is a corporate element, as well as all prosecutions for offences against the Trade Practices Act 1974 and the Bankruptcy Act 1966. There is also a Commercial Branch in Head Office that is responsible for coordinating the work in this practice area on a national basis and also conducts case work in the Australian Capital Territory and southern New South Wales.
