Preparing Your Application
Initial Steps
- Obtain and read the duty statement and selection criteria/competencies for the position of interest;
- Seek clarification or additional information on the agency or position by taking the opportunity to speak to the contact officer nominated in the advertisement;
- Conduct some research on the CDPP. Useful Resources are available on this site e.g. the Annual Report, Corporate Plan etc;
- Be aware of the closing date and where and how to lodge your application (see below). If, for any reason, you cannot submit your application by the closing date, you should discuss this with the contact officer.
Writing Your Application
Your application should include:
- A completed Application Cover Sheet;
- A curriculum vitae or resume outlining your work experience, qualifications as well as contact details for at least 2 referees;
- A statement of claims against the selection criteria/competencies for the position.
The statement addressing the selection criteria/competencies is a crucial part of the application.
The following points will assist you with this statement:
- Use the selection criterion/competency as a heading;
- Provide examples to demonstrate and substantiate your claims when addressing each selection criterion/competency that can be verified by a referee/s;
- Only include relevant information outlining claims against that particular criterion/competency;
- Be concise.
