Recognition for long-term support for the Open Employment Scheme

On 20 November the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) (CDPP) and a long-term staff member, Nelson, received awards presented by the Minister for Social Services Tanya Plibersek, in support and recognition of the Open Employment Scheme.

Nelson began working at the CDPP on 17 July 1995 and was awarded for 30 years of employment. While his role in the Information and Records Management team has changed over time, Nelson’s work ethic, reliability and willingness to engage and deliver has not changed.

Enhancing the CDPP’s legal practice

The Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth) Raelene Sharp KC confirmed that on 1 June 2024, Warren Day will join the CDPP on secondment for 6 months, as the Director’s Executive Officer.

Mr Day will assist the Director to design and implement a program of work to review the practicing model, and other areas of the CDPP, with a view to enhancing and modernising the CDPP’s legal practice.

The CDPP celebrates 40 years

On 5 March 2024, CDPP staff acknowledged the 40 year anniversary of the Office being established.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Raelene Sharp KC, hosted an online panel event joined by staff from each of the 10 offices. The event featured a panel of current staff representing staff who joined the Office in each decade since the 1980s.

Those staff shared their experiences of change throughout their tenure, covering everything from changes in technology and the support available, through to valuable connections and memorable cases.
