Prosecution of Naveed Akram

The CDPP confirmed that a third tranche of the brief of evidence was served on the parties and that the Joint Counter Terrorism Team required further time to obtain additional evidence and serve the remainder of the brief of evidence. The CDPP explained to the Court that the Joint Counter Terrorism Team had obtained more than 800 witness statements, collected a significant volume of forensic and medical evidence, continued to assess devices allegedly associated with the defendant, and reviewed hundreds of hours of footage relating to the Bondi Beach shootings. The Court extended the date for service of the brief of evidence to 28 October 2026 and adjourned the matter to that date for mention.

Prosecution of Liam Alexander Hall

On 4 February 2026, the WA Joint Counter Terrorism Team (JCTT) (comprising the Western Australian Police Force, the Australian Federal Police and the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation) charged Liam Alexander Hall (the defendant) with one charge of committing a terrorist act.

The prosecution confirmed that the non-sensitive brief of evidence was substantially served on the defendant on 7 September 2026. The Court extended the date for the filing of a charge certificate under s 67(3) of the Criminal Procedure Act 1986 (NSW) with the defendant’s consent. The Court listed a further brief service mention on 13 October 2026.
