Court updates

The CDPP confirmed that a portion of the brief of evidence has been served on the parties and that the Joint Counter Terrorism Team required further time to obtain additional evidence serve the remainder of the brief of evidence. The Court extended the date for service of the brief of evidence to 10 June 2026 and adjourned the matter to that date for mention.

The Court also extended the orders for the suppression of information relating to the identity of a number of victims contained in the Statement of Facts and Court Attendance Notices on the court file to 6 May 2026. The  hearing for an application by the CDPP to vary and extend those suppression orders is listed on 6 May 2026.

The Court dismissed the defendant’s application for suppression and non-publication orders over information relating to his immediate family members. The interim orders made on 17 March 2026 were revoked. 

The matter is next listed on 8 April 2026 for committal mention and to review the suppression orders in relation to victim identification information in the Statement of Facts and Court Attendance Notices.

The Court made interim orders in narrower terms to those made on 9 March 2026 for the suppression and non-publication of information relating to the defendant’s immediate family members, and are in place until the application is determined on 2 April 2026.

The matter is next listed on 2 April 2026 for judgment on final orders sought by the defendant in relation to the suppression and non-publication of information about his immediate family members.

The Court further extended the orders for the suppression of information relating to the identity of a number of victims contained in the Statement of Facts and Court Attendance Notices on the court file to 8 April 2026. The suppression orders were originally made on 22 December 2025 and had previously been extended on 16 February 2026.

The matter is also listed on 17 March 2026 to hear an application by the defendant for the suppression and non-publication of information relating to the defendant’s immediate family members. Interim orders in relation to that information were made by the Court, and are in place until the application is determined on 17 March 2026. The orders were made on the ground that it was necessary to protect the safety of a person.

The Court extended the orders for the suppression of information relating to the identity of a number of victims contained in the Statement of Facts and Court Attendance Notices on the court file made on 22 December 2025.

The matter is next listed on 9 March 2026 for review of those orders.

The Court revoked the interim suppression order meaning the Statement of Facts could be released. The Court also made orders for the suppression of information relating to the identity of a number of victims contained in the Statement of Facts and Court Attendance Notices on the court file. 

The matter is next listed on 16 February 2026 for review of those orders. 

The defendant did not apply for bail and bail was formally refused. The Court made an order for the brief of evidence to be served by 8 April 2026 and adjourned the matter to that date.

The Court granted the prosecution application for an interim suppression order over the Statement of Facts until 22 December 2025. The order was made on the ground that it was necessary to prevent prejudice to the proper administration of justice noting that the police investigation is ongoing.
